Organizational context

Our client, a major consumer products manufacturer with a global presence, is looking for a Director of Category Management. This person will be responsible for a segment of several tens of millions of dollars, in order to increase the sales of its products.


Reporting to the Vice President, Product Management, the incumbent will be responsible for developing and overseeing the three-year strategic plan, including the annual budget and business plan with resources, timelines, requirements and projections for the company. He or she will also be responsible for increasing category performance through business development, new product introductions, deployment of new programs for retailers in the US and Canadian markets, and through negotiations with suppliers.

Your mission

-Develop a new product strategy for sales opportunities and new programs that contribute to the objectives

-Collaborate with procurement and product development teams on new product innovation and design

-Collaborate with marketing and corporate teams to implement brand expansion strategies

Candidate profile

You are fluently bilingual, have a university degree in business or other relevant field and have 10 years of experience in a strategic role. You are a natural leader, able to influence and promote collaboration and are recognized as a strong negotiator. You have experience in the retail industry in both the U.S. and Canadian markets and have a strong background in e-commerce and consumer goods. Experience with manufacturing suppliers in Asian markets will also be considered an asset.
